Unveil3D

My 3D showcase app for sports clubs. A volunteer uploads media-day photos and Unveil3D builds a broadcast-style scene, with the cut-outs, layout and sponsors done for them.

Clubs have photos of their players and nowhere impressive to put them. Unveil3D turns a folder of media-day photos into an interactive 3D scene for the club’s website: the squad on a lit podium, or a starting five revealed one by one with their stats.

It’s my own product. A club volunteer builds the scene in the Studio, on a laptop or a phone, and publishes a link, an embed and a QR code. Two templates are live, for any sport: the champions’ podium, which grew out of Match Night, and the Starting Five, a one-minute team reveal.

The full reveal runs live in your browser, sound on. A demo, not a client project, and not affiliated with the NBA.

How it came together

  1. Upload, and the scene builds itself

A volunteer picks the sport and adds the team’s photos from a laptop or a phone. Each player is cut out with Cloudflare Images, and the colour comes back from a 3072 px copy of the original, so big photos stay sharp.

Every photo is scored for each place in the scene. Full-body and hero poses go on the podium, waist-up photos go on the banners, and anyone can be swapped by hand.

  2. Plain words when a photo won’t work

A vision model reads each photo’s framing and pose, and the cut-out’s edge is measured. Every photo is graded Great, Fixable or Not usable, with the reason a volunteer can act on:

    • “We found 3 people. Choose who to cut out, or split the photo.”
    • “The top of the head is cut off in the photo.”
    • “The photo is backlit; the person may look dark.”

The fix is one tap away: choose another photo, remove it, or touch up the edges with a brush. Every upload also passes a safety check, and anything flagged waits for a person.

Every player counts as under 18 until marked otherwise, and a scene can’t publish until a guardian’s consent is recorded for each minor. Original photos are deleted after 30 days.

  3. Two scenes, each built for one moment

The champions’ podium is for season launches, award nights and the home page: the squad on a lit stage at night, sponsors on an LED ring and the club’s video on the big screen. Tap a player and she steps forward with her partner.

The Starting Five is for game day, finals and social video. In one minute, with sound, each starter gets an entrance with number, position, height and stats. Then the five stand together, “Presented by” lands, and the scene opens up for fans to explore.

  4. Made the club’s own

    • Netball, basketball, Australian rules, soccer, rugby, cricket, hockey, volleyball or any other sport, each with its own positions and stats.
    • Names, numbers, positions, heights, up to four stats, a tag and an honours line for every player.
    • Club colours picked up from the crest, a mood of night, arena or day, and a court or maple floor.
    • Sound: effects, music in three styles, and on the Starting Five an announcer who calls each name.
    • Roles for the committee: owner, admin, editor and viewer.

Studio accounts sign in with a magic link and an authenticator app, or a passkey.

  5. Sponsors where fans look

On the podium, the presenting partner sits in full colour in the centre of the LED band, with up to eight more marks around the dais and a partner for each player. On the Starting Five, the presenting partner is on every card and closes the reveal, with up to four more on the LED ribbon.

On Pro and Agency, the club downloads a one-page report for each sponsor, for any dates: scene views, views on the club’s own site, time on the scene, player shares, and that sponsor’s logo views and clicks.

  6. One scene, everywhere the club already is

    • A share link and a QR code for every scene, and a link and a 1080x1350 card for every player.
    • Embeds for nine site builders, from Webflow and WordPress to Shopify and Next.js. The scene plays only on the sites the club lists.
    • Stills up to 3000 px and an A4 or A3 poster with the QR code, on paid plans.
    • Social video at 1080p in 9:16, 4:5 and 16:9, with sound, on Pro and Agency.
    • A password, an end date and unpublish on every scene.

Each published scene is encrypted with its own key and unlocked per page view, so a copied page shows nothing. In lab tests at phone size on simulated 4G, the podium scene is ready in about 1.5 seconds.
