Newbold College set out to carry 125 years of teaching expertise into everyday life with Newbold Connect, a faith-shaped streaming platform of practice-first masterclasses. Kajabi was already chosen; the challenge was making its public website, member environment, course templates, checkout journeys and branded apps read as one coherent product.

I worked with Alex Ghiorzi and the Newbold team for more than six months, from discovery and research through UX, visual design, custom development, QA and mobile-app coordination.

Newbold Connect launched on 27 June 2026, on time for the College's 125-year anniversary.

How it came together

  1. Where a project starts

    The brief carried real depth, and it kept evolving as the team learned more. Newbold needed a distinctive learning experience its internal team could run after handover, and a delivery process that could support structured approvals, a wider group of decision-makers and a fixed launch date.

    That made the problem larger than the interface. Four connected questions came first: what the platform should include, how learners should move through it, how Kajabi could support the intended experience, and how the team could keep deciding well without losing sight of scope and timing.

  2. From shared direction to one design system

    Research came before design. Moodboards and market research let the team compare directions, and journey mapping kept everything tied to what learners needed to understand and do. Wireframes made uncertainty visible, so feedback became specific.

    The public website and the member environment do different jobs. I built one visual system across typography, colour, imagery, spacing and content hierarchy, then adapted it to each Kajabi template environment, so a learner moves from first visit through purchase, account access and continued learning without the product changing personality.

  3. More than 25 custom Kajabi modules

    Kajabi's native section library couldn't carry the layouts this project needed. I designed and developed more than 25 custom modules across the public website and platform templates: class showcases, content grids, media layouts, instructor sections, pricing components, accordions and navigation patterns.

    Every module stays editable inside Kajabi, so the Newbold team can change copy, images and links without touching code or rebuilding a layout. The platform needed to support Newbold after launch as well as represent it at launch.

  4. Extending Kajabi where the project required it

    Newbold welcomes learners from different countries, so the purchase journeys needed genuine multi-currency support. A custom pricing experience coordinates separate Kajabi offers while keeping the route into checkout clear.

    The work also included a bespoke consent implementation that keeps analytics compliant for a UK audience without adding another subscription service, and a pass over interface terminology so the platform speaks the language of learning rather than exposing Kajabi's internal terms.

  5. A connected mobile experience

    Newbold Connect also extends into Kajabi's branded-app pathway for iOS and Android. My work covered app experience planning, brand configuration, onboarding design, custom screen direction and store-delivery coordination across the Newbold and Kajabi teams.

    The app is another entry point into the same ecosystem: browse the library, continue a lesson and stay connected from a phone.

The outcome

Newbold Connect launched on 27 June 2026, ready for the College's 125-year anniversary. The final delivery included:

  • A complete public-facing Kajabi website
  • Member accounts and a class library experience
  • Redesigned player and dynamic course templates
  • More than 25 custom designed and developed modules
  • Multi-currency purchase journeys
  • A bespoke consent implementation
  • Branded-app experience for iOS and Android
  • Documentation, QA and handover for the Newbold team

The completed platform gives learners one connected route through discovery, purchase and continued learning, and gives Newbold an editable system its team can operate after handover.
